Animation movie exhibition “The Pictures That Walked by Themselves”

As part of the end of year celebrations at Staapli 3 Art Gallery you can find local animation movies! From 1 December until the New Year, you can enjoy fresh animation movies from five young animators: Teresa Baroet, Auden Lincoln-Vogel, Noam Sussman, Red, Hung Huei Jen and Anu-Laura Tuttelberg.

Staapli 3 Art Gallery invites you to come and enjoy creative ideas by local animators! Films play at the gallery from 1 December until 31 December.

ANIMATIONS

Anu-Laura Tuttelberg

Anu-Laura Tuttelberg is an artist based in Tallinn, Estonia. She works as a freelance film director and sculptor directing and designing puppet films. She makes set designs at animation studios and teaches puppet animation in Estonian Academy of Arts.

“Winter in the Rainforest”
“Winter in the Rainforest” will be the first short animation in a bigger long-term project. It is a nature film with surreal creatures – animals, birds, insects, plants made of porcelain living in the tropical rainforest.

Teresa Baroet

Teresa Baroet is a Portuguese animator with photography background. She has a bachelor degree in photography in London and recently finished a Master in Animation at Tallinn Academy of Arts.

“Cante”

An anonymous man, alone in a sterile environment of an office, comes to grips with his own existence through the medium of tradition. He hears Cante Alentejano, a traditional singing that guides him through the monotonous meaningless gestures of modern daily work and society.

Noam Sussman

Noam Sussman is a 2D animator, illustrator and filmmaker from Toronto, Canada.

An elderly couple is addicted to a psychedelic face cream.

Red, Hung Huei Jen

Red, Hung Huei Jen is an animation filmmaker who is especially interested in stop-motion animation, but also specialized in 2D animation, AfterEffect animation and motion graphic design. She graduated from Estonian Academy of Arts and obtained her animation MA degree in 2019. Red searches the absurdities and vexation in life, then creates weird stories and characters with a tint of sarcasm and humor. 

“Gorilla in the Washing Machine”

Late at night, there are animals minding their own business beside a lake under a delightful spring breeze. In the end, some of them meet and click nicely immediately, so they drink tea and make sticky rice happily together ever since.

Auden Lincoln-Vogel is an American animator and experimental filmmaker. His narrative animations, expanded cinema performances, and experimental films have been shown throughout Europe, Asia, and the Americas.
